MusikMesse was first introduced in Frankfurt, Germany in 1980 and mainly holds an international fair with regards to the music industry at the beginning of every year for 4 consecutive days where the first 2 days are business-related and the last 2 days are welcomed for the public. Vox has been on the MusikMesse show which introduced a new line of tube amps with amp modeling: the Vox ValveTronix XL (“Extreme Lead”) Series announced in 2004.

This type of Vox series is specifically designed for hard rock music players that features fiery, high-quality heavy metal guitar sounds) and these amps feature a sound from the VT and Chrome Series. There are 3 different models under the Vox ValveTronix XL Series:
• Vox AD15VT-XL
• Vox AD50VT-XL
• Vox AD100VT-XL

There are similarities and differences between these 3 XL models, the similarity features are:
• The use of Valve Reactor technology and circuitry of 12AX7 (ECC83) dual triode valve for the tube effect sound
• 11 modeled amps vary from classic vintage to expensive contemporary valves all controlled by the touch of a knob (Glass, Funked, Buzzsaw, Crunched, Thrashed, Raged, Modern, Fluid, Molten, Black, Damaged)
• 11 built-in effects and 7 multi-effects for the use of 2 effects at the same time including Noise Reduction

• Users of these models can customize programs that store amps and effects within 2 different settings (CH1 and CH2). These settings can be chosen through the top panel or using the VFS2 foot switch (also used to bypass effects) in the rear panel. There’s also a preset mode for each type of amp
• Manually programmed settings can be heard through the Manual mode for the knobs
• Power level control (not applicable for the AD15VT-XL) can let the user manually change the output wattage of the amp (Vox AD15VT-XL

This is the smallest amp of the Vox AD Voletronix XL Series and is designed for an apartment/flat and home studio. It is more suited to be used as a practice amp, but don’t be deceived by its dark painted color and inducing appearance, it still produces great sound quality.

Vox AD50VT-XL

Unlike the AD15VT-XL, this amp was manufactured to be used for a live performance, because it had a loud sound. It is furnished with a dark black color grille and chrome-plated for enhancing the appearance of this fierce-looking amp.

This almost 27” “big daddy” was a mix of 12AX7 tube/solid-state amp circuits. The AD100VT-XL is the badass boss of all the XL Series. Its speakers are thrillingly loud that can simply change the output wattage from 0 to 100. This amp is also drizzled with a dark chrome effect.
