Allen & Heath Xone:4D MixerThe new model from Allen & Heath Xone series is a USB mixer with a new soundcard that includes the same features than the Xone:3D but with some interesting news like multi-track recording, running 4 simultaneous decks in Native Instruments Traktor or, like a lot of people requested, panels that can be read in very low light using a ultra violet sensitive paint.

The specifications Allen & Heath Xone:4D Mixer are 24-bit audio resolution and 96 kHz sampling rate, 8 different setups for the USB soundcard (that removes the need of using the computer software utility like the Xone:3D model), 225 assignable MIDI controls, real-time LFO waveform edit function, 4 stereo and digital outputs and 4 stereo and digital inputs and FX2 RCA sockets that can be converted to recording outputs.

This mixer works with both PC and Mac and could be a very interesting tool for DJs. The Allen & Heath Xone:4D Mixer will be available next month and its approximate price will be $2,000.

PreSonus worries about those who want to convert his bedroom in a “best quality possible” studio releasing affordable products that can be used with computers because the USB connection, the last one is the PreSonus AudioBox USB Interface, USB-powered, compact size and many more features that will fit your desktop.

The PreSonus AudioBox USB Interface features 2 channels, 2 mic/instrument preamps, 2 combo (XLR and 1/4″) inputs, with level control per channel, and 2 balanced TRS and headhones outputs (rear), +48V phantom power, mixer, headphones and main level controls and USB and MIDI connections.

The AudioBox USB ships complete with the PreSonus Propak software suite including Cubase LE 4 as well as a bundle of third party plug-ins, loops and drum samples.

This compact interface comes with PreSonus Propak software suite that includes Cubase LE 4, third party plug-ins, loops and drum samples. The PreSonus AudioBox USB Interface will be available in April but its price has not been unveiled yet.

The Akai MPD32 Pad Controller features 16 pads with velocity and pressure response, 8 swtiches, 8 faders and 8 endless knobs assignable controls, tap tempo, preset adjusting and transport controls, 2 footswitch and 1 expression pedal inputs, 4 banks, 30 user presets, LCD display and MIDI connection.

The transport controls allow us to control the DAW or the sequencer software in both Mac or Windows. The Akai MPD32 Pad Controller is now available and its price is $300.

Numark has introduced at Winter NAMM a new product specially designed for DJs, the Numark NS-7 DJ Controller, a dual channel DJ controller with 2 vinyl platters, completely analog circuitry and full of MIDI assignable illuminated controls, 3 times faster MIDI over USB technology and software of your choice.

The Numark NS-7 DJ Controller features 24-bit audio resolution, 7″ dual vinyl platters with adjustable high-torque, direct-drive motors, 8 rotary encoders, 8 triggers and 2 mini sliders assignable controls, CP-PRO crossfader, looping, cue point and track selection controls, 3-band EQ, fader and transport controls per channel, 2 inputs, 4 outputs and USB 2.0 connection.

This dual DJ controller includes 2 different software so you can choose between Serato Itch and Numark’s CUE DJ. The price and availability of the Numark NS-7 DJ Controller have not been announced yet.

Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal [Winter NAMM 2008]This new Moog device that will be present at Winter NAMM show can be a great and very important tool for synth or DJ-gear absed musicians, if you are on this group and sometimes you have felt you need another hand take a look at this. The Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal is a foot pedal MIDI controller that can be used with effects processors, synths, laptops, … even to adjust parameters from different devices at the same time.

The Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal features 4 footswitches each one with LED, expression pedal, 1 rotary encoder with push switch, 2 momentary switches (for editing presets), LFO signal generated by user’s rate, amount and waveform (available waveforms: triangle, square, sawtooth, ramp and sample and hold) adjusments, random noise cv (control voltage), preset Voltage levels, USB port (with MIDI over USB), MIDI in and out connections, 4 CV 1/4″ TRS outputs and 5 operation modes.

The operation modes include using footswitches to select programs or channels (single channel mode) or using footswitches as channel on/off and the pedal as an expression pedal for all the channels, among others. The Moog MP-201 Multi-Pedal price and availability have to be announced yet.

Companies start to unveil the products that will be shown in the this month’s Winter NAMM show, one of them is RJM that has unveiled the details of the renewed Amp Gizmo, a MIDI controller for both effect pedals and footswitchable parameters of your amp, this way you don’t need to activate/deactivate 2 or 3 pedals at the same time because this device does it for you.

The RJM Music Technology Amp Gizmo features 8 switches for storing up to 256 programs, 1/4″ and DIN switch jacks all of them electrically isolated to prevent hum, phantom power for MIDI footswitches, MIDI in and MIDI out/thru connection, XLR amp output a on/off LED for each input.

This MIDI controller works with all the amps that accept 1/4″ switch jacks and has adapters for a lot of amps that are not standard. The RJM Music Technology Amp Gizmo will be available after the Winter NAMM show and its MSRP price will be $399.

RME DMC-842 Digital Mic Controller

RME announces that their last effort in mic controllers, that was officially introduced at last AES show, is now available for shipping, but the RME DMC-842 Digital Mic Controller is probably one of the first devices in the market specially designed for digital mics. This controller has a similar design to other RME devices like the Firewire interfaces with blue front panel with independent areas, meters and LED panels for each channel.

The RME DMC-842 Digital Mic Controller features 8 channels, 24 bit audio resolution, up to 192kHz sampling rate (with selector switch), digital phantom power switch and gain control per channel, 8 AES digital inputs, 8 analog, 4 AES and 2 ADAT outputs and MIDI and wordclock connections. This controller can also work as a power supply supporting the 2 modes (asynchronous and synchronous) of AES42 standard that allows you to control some parameters remotely through the digital mic.

This controller is 19″ rack-mountable and comes with a computer MIDI communication software (only for Windows). The RME DMC-842 Digital Mic Controller is now available and its list price is $4000 (approximately street price $2800).

It looks like past days have been busy for the Sims Audio Corp. brands, we have seen the Amon USB Interface and now we introduce you the JamMate Primus USB Interface & MIDI Controller, a combined device that will allow you to record, for example, keyboard, synth or piano tracks and control the parameters through its MIDI interface.

The JamMate Primus USB Interface & MIDI Controller features 25 keys, 24-bit audio resolution and up to 96 kHz sampling rate, A/D and D/A audio converter, 8 MIDI-assignable knobs and encoders, pitch and bend modulation wheel controls, keypads and wheel with LED display, 5 user banks to store configuration presets plus 4 demo presets, 2 line, 1 mic and 1 instrument inputs (1/4″), 2 line and headphones (with level control) outputs (1/4″) and USB 2.0 and MIDI connections.

This interface and controller is USB powered but includes a 9V DC adapter, supports WDM, ASIO, DirectSound and Core Audio drivers and comes with a Native Instruments demo software package. The JamMate Primus USB Interface & MIDI Controller MSRP is $270 and will be available next year.

M-Audio has introduced a new product from its mobile recording product line that belongs to the Fast Track series, a portable audio & MIDI interface that will allow you to record everywhere you go, of course you will need a computer. The M-Audio Fast Track Ultra Interface includes analog and digital inputs and outputs and its recording quality is 24-bit & 96 kHz.

The M-Audio Fast Track Ultra Interface features 8 x 8 channels (that can be used simultaneously), MX Core DSP mixer with built-in effects, flexible channel routing options and larger channel interface (16 x 8), 4 M-Audio Octane preamps with phantom power, 2 XLR and 2 XLR/TRS inputs and 20 dB pad, 6 balanced line, S/PDIF and MIDI inputs, 6 balanced analog, 2 headphones (with level knob), S/PDIF and MIDI outputs and USB 2.0 port.

This device works in PC and Mac (universal) computers with low-latency drivers (WDM, MME, Asio 2.0 or Core Audio) and is powered by the USB port. The M-Audio Fast Track Ultra Interface is available for preorder and its price is $349.

Another M-Audio release in few days, this time they have released a multi-use product specially designed for songwriters. The M-Audio KeyStudio 49i Keyboard Controller is a USB controller that can be used with your DAW or a stand-alone keyboard with built-in premium piano sound, that means you can compose with the piano and record the tracks on the computer with the controller.

The M-Audio KeyStudio 49i Keyboard Controller features 49 keys, 2-input 2-output audio interface, 16-bit audio processing and 44.1 kHz sampling rate, modulation wheel, piano level and octave up and down assignable controls, pitch bend wheel, reverb button, master volume fader, RCA, 1/4″ line and XLR mic inputs (with gain controls) for recording and stereo line and front dual headphones outputs

This controller is compatible with Mac and PC and comes with a 128-sound M-Audio GM sound module and Ableton Live Lite music software. The M-Audio KeyStudio 49i Keyboard Controller is now available and its price is $249.
