It features a three octave set of handbells chromatically recorded in 9 articulations totaling 1.2 gigabytes. Flexible Kontakt scripting includes control over Envelope-Amp parameters, EQ, IR and reverb, Location (player perspective or audience) and release samples when applicable.

Handbell Clapper – samples are created with the traditional technique of holding it against the shoulder, bell-upwards, and then swinging the bell through an elliptical shape to cause the clapper to strike the casting of the bell.

Suspended Handbell with a soft rubber mallet – samples were recorded with the bells suspended from the ceiling of the room while being struck with a soft rubber mallet.

Suspended Handbell with a hard rubber mallet – samples were recorded with the bells suspended from the ceiling of the room while being struck with a hard rubber mallet.

Suspended Handbell with a plastic chopstick – samples were recorded with the bells suspended from the ceiling of the room while being struck with a plastic chopstick. This creates a great deal of high frequency content.

Singing Handbells – the Singing Handbells sound is created by running a wood dowel along the rim of the handbell, similar to the way a wet finger across the edge of a crystal glass can make it sing.

Plucked Handbells – is accomplished by using the thumb and forefinger to force the clapper head into the casting while the bell is on the table, producing a staccato note.

Handbell Library Specifications:

2 round-robins per bell on most articulations.

Sample resolution of 44.1Khz / 24Bit stereo .wav format

1.2 GB installed, 680 MB .rar download

Kontakt 2/3/4 and Apple EXS24 native formats

The Handbell library is available at a introductory price of $69.00 until January 1, 2010.

Usable with Kore 2 and the free Kore Player, the instrument provides musicians and producers with an inspirational resource for movie and game scoring, modern sound design and various electronic music styles. Unusual, complex acoustic sources ranging from volcanic mudpots to television static were carefully captured in extensive field recording sessions, and combined with the vast synthesis and sound processing capabilities of Absynth, Kontakt and Kore. The result is an array of previously unheard, charismatic instruments that are both alien and organic in their sonic character, but also highly playable and of profound musical value.

Sonic Fiction provides 100 KoreSounds with eight morphable Sound Variations each, resulting in 800 individual sounds. Concise parameter assignments allow for immediate, intuitive sound tweaking in Kore 2 and Kore Player. Full musical metadata for all presets also makes Sonic Fiction integrate seamlessly with any individual collection of Kore-Powered instruments.

OS 2.0 adds a host of innovations that reinforce the Multi-Pedal’s position as the premier Analog, MIDI and USB Control Hub.

New features include: MIDI-to-CV conversion, Loopable Envelope Generators with four Envelope Shapes (Linear, Logarithmic, Exponential and Complex), CV Lag, CV Scaling and the ability to trigger Gates and MIDI events. These new features add to an already impressive list including, MIDI Clock Sync, Tap Tempo, Programmable Heel and Toe Voltages, four LFOs, four Analog Control Voltage Outputs, MIDI and USB connectivity. Many of the original features, such as Quad Mode and Noise Generation also received significant enhancements.

So that even more musicians, DJs and producers can experience the power of the pedal, Moog Music is announcing a special promotion. From November 15, 2009 through December 31, 2009, the Multi-Pedal’s price will drop to $399 at participating US dealers and through the Moog website.

“The features in OS 2.0 take the Multi-Pedal to a whole new level” said Moog Music President, Mike Adams. “With four channels of MIDI-to-CV conversion, hooking the Multi-Pedal to a laptop sequencer gives you the flexibility and power of an analog step sequencer that can also communicate with MIDI gear.”

WaveArts has released Tube Saturator, a real-time analog modeling plug-in for Mac and PC.

Unlike other tube simulators, which use radically simplified models, Tube Saturator uses state of the art circuit simulation technology to capture every nuance of an analog circuit. With circuit simulation, the analog schematic completely defines the signal processing. The schematic is converted into a system of non-linear differential equations which is solved at each sampling period, in realtime.

Tube Saturator is in fact a basic circuit consisting of a Baxandall type three-band EQ feeding two 12AX7 triode preamp stages. It’s similar to preamp stages you’d find in a guitar amp, but it is by no means a complete guitar amplifier model – that would be way too expensive to simulate even with today’s fastCPUs. However, it is extremely accurate, and hence you can get the same distortion and tonal characteristics that you’d expect from a real tube preamp.

Use Tube Saturator to add a bit of analog warmth to recordings, or increase the drive for some distortion. You can use it as a saturating peak limiter too.

Increasing the Drive control increases the (digital) input gain while decreasing the (digital) output gain, so you can easily adjust distortion levels. The FAT switch changes the bias circuit of the first preamp stage to increase gain.

Technical specifications:

Accurate tube preamp simulator using 64-bit circuit simulation technology

Two common cathode 12AX7 preamp stages

Baxandall 3-band EQ

Drive control for distortion adjustment

EQ bypass

FAT mode for increased punch

Analog style metering

No latency

Up to 192 kHz sampling rate, depending onCPU speed

Mono or stereo

Tattoo is a drum synthesizer where everything old is new again. Featuring 12 independent “voice-tuned” synthesizer topologies loosely based on the X0X series, and an incredibly sophisticated step/mod sequencer, Tattoo is at home in all forms of electronic music production.

Tattoo plug-in features:

- 12 Drum Synths: Tattoo comes equipped with twelve different voices, instead of the one general catch-all voice you find in most drum synth plug-ins.

- Sophisticated Step Sequencer: Tattoo’s internal sequencer comes correct, taking grid programming to the next level.

- Randomization For Days: There are multiple routes to randomizing your beats, from subtle ghost notes to full on haywire.

- Parameter Sequencing: Every synth parameter has its own sequencer, including randomization.

- Synchronized: Tattoo can run off its internal sequencer, from host sync, or via “note sync,” where the sequencer can be stepped with MIDI notes. In this way, Tattoo can run in any time signature you can come up with, or sync to any groove template in any host sequencer.

- MIDI Input: Tattoo’s MIDI implementation includes full MIDI learn for all parameters and MIDI pattern switching. You can also use MIDI note input in addition to or instead of Tattoo’s internal sequencer, and still have access to the randomization features and MOD sequencing.

- MIDI Output: Tattoo sends MIDI output of all its note events, including randomization, so you can use its step sequencer to drive any other drum synth or sampler (or any instrument, really) as long as your host allows MIDI routing from a plug-in instrument.

- Audio Outputs: Tattoo has a stereo buss and 10 mono outputs. The stereo buss has a modified version of the Kombinat “One Knob Compressor” to add a little squish to things.

Spectrasonics has released Trilian Total Bass Module – a new virtual instrument dedicated to all types of Bass sounds – Acoustic, Electric and Synth.

The new acoustic and electric basses in Trilian are sampled at an extremely high level of detail. The combination of the software’s intuitive, automatic selection of legato and release articulations as the user plays – and the extensive ‘Round-Robin’ variations introduced for natural sounding bass lines with repeated notes – create a more dynamic and subtle playing experience. Newly developed multisampled dynamic slides let notes realistically slide from one to another. Each of the new basses feature multi-channel mixing between phase-locked microphone/amplifier and direct outputs of each bass.

Over sixty different 4, 5, 6 and 8 string Electric basses are presented in fingered, picked, fretless, slapped, tapped, and muted technique variations – providing a huge variety of sounds for any musical genre. Highlights of the new Electric Basses include a Music Man™ 5-string Studio Bass, Chapman Stick®, Lakland™ Rock P-Bass, Clean Fender® Jazz Bass, a Hardcore Rock Bass, a Retro 1960’s Epiphone® Viola Bass and much more.

For Synth sounds, Trilian features newly-developed 4-Pole “Juicy” and “Power” Filter algorithms with oscillating resonance that are ideal for electronic bass. Hundreds of synth soundsources were created using over 30 of the most exotic and coveted hardware synthesizers – from the original Moog® Taurus Pedals to the latest boutique analog modular synthesizers. A multitude of extremely powerful editing controls are available for sound design – including the “FlexMod” modulation system, Dual Filters with more than 19 filter types, 6 multistage looping envelopes, 6 full-featured LFOs, dual morphing modulation, modulatable FX racks and much more.

Trilian’s FX racks include all of the renowned FX processors from Omnisphere and Stylus RMX– including a wide variety of amp and speaker models, distortions, dynamics processors, equalizers, chorus, phasers, flangers, delays, reverbs, unique specialty FX and more.

Trilian is now shipping, and the MSRP is $299US and €229 Euro.

Roger Linn Design released their latest product – the AdrenaLinn Sync plug-in.

It is new software plug-in that provides the same unique beat-synced filter modulation and sequencing effects of the AdrenaLinn III guitar pedal.

At the same time it adds these features:

- More Control — More parameters to fine-tune your filter modulation and filter sequencing effects.
- More Randomness — Random sequence generation, random LFO amplitude, plus variable probability of randomly-generated notes or envelope firing.
- More Swing — In additional to half or full swing timing for sequenced notes, you also get on randomly-generated notes.
- Noise source for Self-Generated Noise Beats — Use noise with the sequencer to create synthesized drumbeats, or to excite resonant filters into self-oscillation.
- 2 Simultaneous Modulation Paths — Separately route LFO & Sequencer, or Sequencer Level & Sequencer Envelope, to individual levels of filter frequency, volume and pan modualtion.
- Full Stereo Signal Path — Maintain full stereo from input to output.
- Self-generating sequences — Increase resonance to full for self-oscillating filter or flanger, then use the Sequencer for random or looped self-generating note sequences.
- Musical Scale Constraints — Snap the LFO or Sequencer modulation signals chromatic, major, minor, pentatonic, blues, whole tone, diminished or seven other musical scales.
- Tube-Modeled Distortion — A very warm and smooth distortion with pre-hipass and post-lowpass filters.
- Stereo phaser — A rich, 4-stage stereo phaser.
- 10 Second Stereo Delay with Ping Pong — Makes your beat-synced delays and delay loops more useful. Delay loops as long as 8 bars in length (up to 10 seconds).
- Clean & Simple User Interface — Clearly shows signal flow and modulation routing.
- 128 Great Presets — Includes all of AdrenaLinn III sequenced, random and modulation presets, plus some new self-generating pitched sequences and noise drumbeats.

Roger Linn Design didn’t include AdrenaLinn III’s drumbeats, amp modeling, note-triggered filter modulation or reverb, but they figured you’d have plenty of plug-ins to do those things.

AdrenaLinn Sync comes in a single format that works for VST, AU and RTAS formats. It is currently available only for Mac OSX, with a Windows version coming soon.
