Universal Audio Trident A-Range Classic Console EQ Powered Plug-In

large-GUI.pluginUniversal Audio
announced the release of the Trident A-Range Classic Console EQ Powered Plug-In for their popular line of UAD-1 and UAD-2 DSP Accelerator Cards for Mac and PC.

The original Trident A-Range desk holds near-mythic status in the professional recording industry, and is arguably the best loved of the classic Trident console designs. The unique band interactions of its colorful EQ section have made an indelible impact on the soundof record making. During the “Golden Years” of rock, the A-Range was employed to record some truly great records by artists such as David Bowie, Lou Reed and Queen, to name just a few.

“Of all the companies that could possibly do this job, Universal Audio would do the best job,” stated Trident Audio Developments founder and A-Range designer Malcolm Toft.

Available for purchase via UA’s Online Store for $249, the Trident A-Range Classic Console EQ Powered Plug-In features include:

– 4-band active EQ modeled from one of only 13 original Trident A-Range desks
– Licensed and endorsed by Trident Audio Developments, created by Universal Audio
– Unique filter response curves modeled to exacting detail
– Inductor-based EQ design yields band interaction between bell and shelving filters
– Unique ability to combine cut filters for unusual filtering responses
– Cosmetics match the original module’s “aubergine” (eggplant) finish

Universal Audio has always had a huge respect for the classic Trident designs. We’re very pleased to add Trident to the UAD product line, and I’m certain that our more than 30,000 users will agree,” commented Universal Audio President Matt Ward.

Elysia mpressor plug-in

mpressorplugtitle_enElysia has announced the mpressor plug-in, an emulation of their creative compressor.

Its all discrete circuitry and its special character have been translated into software in all the painstaking details by the specialists from brainworx. The result is an outstanding universal compressor as well as a dynamics effect machine which will significantly enhance the potentials of your sequencer. The mpressor is available in RTAS, VST and AU formats.

The plug-in has all the great functions of the hardware which can be combined in many ways: Auto Fast for attack makes life easy even on longer attack settings. The Anti Log function offers an alternative release curve that can be engaged for instant pumping effects. In addition to standard ratios, the mpressor also provides negative values. Combine this with its extremely fast attack times, and you will be able to create completely new signal envelopes.

Features:

» True Emulation: The compression behavior and the sound character of the hardware have been recreated in a complex process to match the hardware as close as possible

» Oversampling: In order to achieve the best results also on lower sample rates, the mpressor plugin uses an increased internal resolution in these cases

» Mousewheel Support: Setting parameters with the mouse can be pretty annoying for this reason the controllers of the mpressor can be easily moved with the mouse wheel

» Auto Fast: Originally developed for the alpha compressor, this switchable semi automation ensures a perfect attack on the basis of the value set by the user

» Anti Log: This alternative characteristic of the release curve follows an antilogarithmic course instead of the linear one and produces a much more audible result

» Negative Ratios: The characteristic curve bends and goes back down! Heavy pumping, backward sounds, etc. perfect for very cool compression effects

» Audio Filter: The mpressor plugin of course also features another popular function of the hardware version: the easy yet very flexible Niveau Filter

» External Sidechain: You want to create frequency dependent compression or have it accented by the groove? The sidechain function makes it all possible!

» Gain Reduction Limiter: This novel limiter is not placed in the audio path as usually, but restricts the virtual control voltage of the plug-in instead

Gig-fx SubWah pedal

SubWahGig-fx inc. has presented the SubWah a bass version of the popular MegaWah.

The new SubWah captures the signature wide-sweep range and funky low end of the Megawah, but has tailored the frequency ranges for bass guitar. The SubWah was developed with cooperation from top professional bass players in Boston, Nashville and LA, including Bootsy Collins.

The all-analog pedal features four settings: a classic wah sound, a very deep bass Sub wah, a funky envelope wah with adjustable trigger sensitivity, and an auto-wah with adjustable rate. Special care was taken to ensure preservation of bass frequencies, including five/six string low B response and at the same time to maximize ‘quack’ and ‘ping’. Many months were spent with professional players perfecting the sweep to optimize the effect and still retain bass response.

The SubWah uses optical switching and is noiselessly by-passed when the pedal is all the way back and switches on noiselessly when the pedal is pressed forward. The SubWah features a user-adjustable off-delay so that the effect turns off exactly when the musician wants it to.

The pedal features the new ‘better than true by-pass’ circuitry proven to be superior to a true by-pass in terms of preserving the instrument’s tone and harmonics through instrument cables.

The SubWah follows the popular Megawah legend, which is currently being used by an impressive list of creative guitarists such as Peter Frampton, Nick McCabe (The Verve), Brett Tuggle (Fleetwood Mac), Robin Finck (NIN), Johnny Hiland, and more.

Virtuasonic Mijoy Pro 4

MIJOY PRO4Virtuasonic introduced their latest product the Mijoy Pro 4.

It is a VSTi MIDI plug-in that allows you to use a joystick or gamepad as a MIDI controller. It can be used to control other VSTi instruments, FX plug-ins and even MIDI hardware in real-time.

Nowadays synthesizers, samplers and effects offer an incredible range of possibilities. So much power and flexibility also means many parameters to be managed. Programming the automation by hand is a possible approach to this issue, but certainly more suitable for refining a track than for creating it from scratch.

Mijoy Pro is a premium application designed to let you control virtual instruments, hardware synthesizers, samplers and effects processors in a more friendly and effective way, as well as opening up new possibilities of approaching them. It can be used alone, but it’s also a perfect complement to a masterkeyboard or other MIDI controllers. For instance, it can be configured for key-switching, as well as for controlling filters and other parameters.

Mijoy Pro 4 represents a step forward in the way joystick axis data is handled.

This version introduces some key features that greatly improve the flexibility of the plug-in:

eight slots assignable to every joystick axis of your choice between X, Y, Z, Slider1, Slider 2, Z-rotation and their inversions.
now the same axis can be assigned to more than one MIDI command at the same with independent MIDI settings (Ch, min/max, etc.).
axis inversion.
new axis display with four switchable pointers, one for each couple of axes.
improved MIDI monitor.
new navigation menu with buttons

Korg SV-1 Stage Vintage Piano

large-Korg_SV-1_73_Photo1Korg have presented their new product the SV-1 Stage Vintage Piano.

The SV-1 offers the most complete compendium of hit-making vintage electric pianos, funky clavs, classic and cult-fave organs, string machines, analog/digital electronic contenders and world-class acoustic pianos ever available in a single instrument. Available in lightweight 73-key and 88-key models, the SV-1 features Korg‘s premium RH3 Real Graded Hammer Action for a solid, expressive feel.

The SV-1 recreates the look, feel and satisfaction of performing on a vintage instrument. Absent are the crowded displays and parameter menus that are so common on today’s keyboards. In their place, the SV-1 provides a streamlined front panel where each knob serves a single function and LED indicators cue the performer to each knob’s current setting. Pressing any knob recalls its original saved setting.

Crafted using Korg‘s RX (Real eXperience) Technology, each of the 36 onboard sounds is a detailed and authentic re-creation (complete list below). The RX engine accurately captures the full range of expression and dynamics of the original instruments, including the snap of the tine, release of the hammer, click of the contacts and other definitive sonic elements.

The SV-1 also re-creates the effect pedals and studio processing that gave these sounds their original character. In addition, the proven, tube-driven (12AX7) Valve Reactor circuit combines with period-accurate amplifier modeling to deliver the warmth, bite and snarl that brings these sounds to life. Each of the tone modifying sections features its own dedicated On/Off switch and controls for easy editing.

The SV-1 can be transposed into any key, and the tuning can be adjusted to match another instrument or existing track. Eight velocity curves match the keyboard response to any playing style. Unlike the original instruments, the SV-1 is virtually maintenance-free and always in tune.

The SV-1 features balanced XLR and ¼” outputs, eliminating the need for noisy or costly direct boxes. Convenient audio inputs are also provided, along with a front-mounted headphone jack. A half-damping sustain pedal is included. Two aux pedal inputs can accommodate an additional switch pedal and an additional sweep pedal (to control the Wah effect and Rotary speed, for example). Both inputs can accept switch pedals, providing the Soft and Sostenuto pedals for the piano performer.

The SV-1 Stage Vintage Piano will be available early November 2009.

The 73-key SV-173 will carry an MSRP of $2700.00; the 88-key SV-188 will carry an MSRP of $3000.00.
