Tascam has made another effort in the compact recording device field, where they had previously released some products like the DR-1, the DP-02 and DP-02CF, with the Tascam DP-004 Digital Pocketstudio that reminds somehow to the 4-track tape devices where some of us recording so many cool and awful songs.
This compact recording system has been born with 30 years of innovations in the Portastudio product line, so don’t think of it as an amateur tool. The specifications of the Tascam DP-004 Digital Pocketstudio are 4 tracks, 2 sources at the same time recording function, built-in stereo condenser mic, bounce function to consolidate tracks to allow overdubs, autopunch function for fixing recording problems, mixing functions that allows you to send your mix to your computer through the USB port, 3 instrument/mic/aux 1/4″ inputs and headphones/line output.
This recording device comes with a 1GB SD card and its battery (one of the worst features in compact and portable devices) lasts up to 8 hours in recording mode. The Tascam DP-004 Digital Pocketstudio will be available in few days and its approximated price is $200.
