Epiphone has released a new product line, the Epiphone Prophecy Guitars, that includes 2 classic Gibson/Epiphone models, Les Paul and SG, and 2 models called Futura (a explorer look alike model) and EM-2 (with some features difficult to find in an Epiphone model). All share some features but each one brings some improvements developed during a lot of years.
The shared features of the all the Epiphone Prophecy guitar models are mahogany body and neck (except the EM-2 series that include poplar body and hard maple neck) all with quilt maple top, ebony (Les Paul and SG) or rosewood (Futura and EM-2) fingerboard, 24 jumbo frets, 24.75″ scale length (25.5″ on the EM-2), 3-way pickup switch and volume and tone controls (the GX models include push/pull tap coil switch).
The main difference between all this models are the pickups, the EX and FX models include the classic EMG-81 and EMG-85 humbucker active pickups while the GX models include Gibson DirtyFingers humbucker pickups, the EM-2 series include the recently unveiled EpiActive pickups. Also, the FX guitars include a Floyd Rose tremolo bridge.
The available finishes of this guitars are midnight ebony, black cherry (on the Les Paul and SG models) and midnight sapphire (only available in the EM-2). Price and availability has not been announced yet.

Wow, this Epiphone Prophecy Guitar line looks great. I can’t wait to try it out. We’ll have to keep our ear to the ground on a release date.
