This is big news, after the release in 2005 of the first chambered body Les Paul, Epiphone has released a new version of that model with some revolutionary features. The model has been called Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II, maybe not the best name because it could look like as an upgrade, and
The features of the Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II are chambered mahogany body with quilted maple top, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, 24.75″ scale length, Tune-o-matic bridge swith stopbar tailpiece, Alnico Classic and Alnico Classic Plus humbucker and Shadow Nanomag pickup, 3-way pickup switch, neck, bridge and nanomag volume and master tone controls.
The Shadow Sonic Nanomag is located on the non-existing 23th fret, includes a 2-band EQ and a gain control on the back of the guitar and provides a harmonic-rich and warm acoustic tone that is added to the special Les Paul tone produced by the chambered body.
Another interesting feature is that the guitar includes 2 1/4″ jack outputs, the normal mono and a new stereo outputs, the mono output provides mixed signal (where volume controls can also be used as blend knobs) from Alnico and Nanomag pickups and the stereo one provides both signals separately.
The Epiphone Les Paul Ultra-II will be available on the Q1 2008 and the MSRP price is $1,165 (a hard case is available for $115) and you can choose between faded cherry sunburst and midnight ebony finishes.

and?
Well nothing, but maybe some people can get confused.
I just got one on Friday….what an amazing sound. Anyone who says that this doesn’t sound like the nicest Tak or Epi acoustic using the fretboard pickup ought to get their ears checked. I used it on Sunday at church, never had to change guitars, used the hums for a rock bit, and acoustic for the rest. Awesome look, great feel, and phenomenal sound. I think I’ve found a lifelong friend.
Play on, McDuff
I have had one for about 3 weeks - a cherryburst loner. I’m waiting for my transblack to arrive.
Typical Epiphone electric quality - fair to good. Very UNTYPICAL sound. Great idea and very well executed. It doesn’t sustain like my Gibson Les Paul, but does play well and is 100 times more versatile. Has the potential to be one of the better blues and jazz guitars on the market.
I’M GOING TO GET ONE BUT I’M NOT REALLY SURE IF I SHOULD ONE. HELP ME OUT HERE! I’M ALSO JUST STARTING TO PLAY,HOW MUCH IS IT.
To Zack: I’m pretty sure in most places its in between $600 and $750. But if i were you, and just starting, i wouldnt get one like that right away, i’ve been playing for more than 2 years and I’m getting this one in the summer. If I were, I would start out with a cheaper guitar, and if you really like playing, then upgrade, thats my advice.
Zack, whatever you decide to buy be sure to have it set up by your local music store. New Guitars rarely come set up very well from the factory. It will be much easier to play after you have it done and it will be less frustrating to learn on. And to note: a good guitar is worth the money. Once you have played a while you can tell if it has a good action as soon as you pick it up. Still, don’t spend too much if you won’t stick with it.
Good luck and Rock on!
I have been playing for about three years, but I am 11 years old. Should I get this guitar? I saw a video on epiphone.com and it sounds and looks awesome, but I’m still doubtful.
I got one last month. Spent the day today building a DI/Splitter box and a stereo 1/4 inch cable to carry both signals from the stereo jack on the guitar to the DI/Splitter.
I discovered the stereo jack and the mono jack have to be used together or I got no signal at all. There did not seem to be both signals on the stereo side: However when the stereo side was plugged in the mono jack became the normal pickup output and the stereo jack carried the nanomag signal.
I really don’t like the idea of having two cables or snaking two cables together and wonder if the guitar could be rewired to work as it claimed in this article.
im getting this guitar (i alredy have it but its not hear yet i orderd it on ebay)
This guitar sounds better thean a gibson has a nice price and none of that robot guitar crap like wow it tunes its self… BUT WHAT DOSE IT SOUND LIKE THATS THE WHOLE POINT OF A GUITAR OLNY LAZY PEPLE WOULD GET THAT
