Hercules DJ Console Rmx

The new DJ controller released by Hercules is an affordable product for professional DJs, that can be carried anywhere because of its size, same width as a laptop, and has a built-in audio interface. The Hercules DJ Console Rmx features 2 decks, 2 jog wheels, 3 volume, 2 pitch and 1 cross faders, 3-band EQ and gain control per deck and balance and transport controls. Function buttons include kill (bass, mid or treble frequency on/off), 4-way navigation (to select music from the library), 2 load (to load selected songs into each deck), 2 source (switches the audio source played), 2 pitch reset, 2 beat lock and 2 sync (adjusting pitch settings), 2 loop in/out and 4 effects (flanger, beat-grid, flipping double and reverse). Decent price for this. We’ve looked at a number of different units. Digital mixing is definitely the way to go. No sticky fingers lifting our tunes out of a box anymore. That means the show is better.

This unit is great. Easy to carry, hooks straight to your laptop or desktop so you can use songs straight off your hard drive, so that means you don’t have to go to your box of vinyls anymore to look for the next song you wanna play, all you gotta do is type in the artist name or song title and virtual dj would find it in a second for ya.

A true upgrade to the Hercules DJ Console MK2 I had… I thought. But let me warn you: DO NOT buy the RMX console.
It only works properly with the packaged Virtual DJ 5 Limited Edition, which is a 20-day trial. The free basic version won’t let you set anything. When using VDJ 5 Pro (retail edition), keyfeatures as headphones don’t work anymore. Also, no matter how VDJ is configured, it’ll always leaves unwanted noise in the main output when using the console to adjust EQ, volume, gain and more.

After MANY hours of plugging, I gave up hope this console would ever work properly. I returned it and will stick to my MK2 instead which functions flawlessly.

The problem described above seems to be one of software issues. Yeah, bundled software screws up. It happens. Really, the only limiting factor is on the software I guess. If the only limiting factor is a software issue, thats not too shabby. I’ve configured this thing with ableton, traktor 3 and traktor scratch, virtual dj pro, and have even split up the channels with midi-ox for smart mixing. Asio drivers are pretty solid, It doesn’t glitch out as long as you keep your computer in good condition. I’ve gigged with this a lot, its real solid. I cant complain about it at all. Im really impressed because of its functionality for the price. You get a really cool audio interface if you like to experiment with guitars or other musicians because you can run guitar cable from unpowered line outs and do all sorts of cool stuff with ableton or whatever. Its a great buy! I also own a vestax Vci-100, it definitely presents another solid option on the market. Runs fine on vista, cant say how it goes with macs but since vista sucks so bad I really doubt it has any problems.

    Definitely worth every penny!

I bought Hercules RMX and cannot get the VDJ 5.2.1 application to even launch. Just hangs.
When I install on my internal drive I get an error saying ‘Invalid Skin’

I am running Mac OS 10.5.4 which it claims to work with.
I have tried everything including downloading the latest software to get it to work with no success.

back to the store to get my money back. What a waste of time!
