Roger Linn LinnDrum II

Roger Linn LinnDrum II

One of the most interesting devices lately released is the drum machine developed by Roger Linn and Dave Smith that was formerly known as BoomChik and now known as the Roger Linn LinnDrum II. Both designers, after some delays, get to introduce 2 different models of this device, the LinnDrum II Analog, that has some added features like analog synth voices and and the LinnDrum II Digital.

The Roger Linn LinnDrum II features all the functions in real-time mode, digital synth voices, built-in effects (distortio, compressor, delay, reverb, EQ, …) with 6 on/off switches, 16 backlit pressure and velocity-sensitive assignable pads, 52 backlit buttons, 2 assignable sliders, 4 soft-keys (that can act as soft-knobs also), help and details functions that uses the display to show help or configuration of any control or function, backlit LCD display, compact flash slot and internal RAM memory (sizes are not determined yet), 2 stereo inputs and outputs, 2 footswitch/expression pedal inputs and USB (with USB MIDI) and MIDI connections. The analog version also includes 4 analog voices (based on the Curtis-chip synth voices) with its dedicated direct outputs for each voice and 27 dual-function rotary encoders for voicing the analog and digital voices.

Both version of this product will be available, probably, on late 2008 and the estimated prices are $1,000 for the digital version and $1,500 for the analog version of LinnDrum II.
