Gibson Robot Guitar

Gibson will release a second guitar model, the first was the PowerTune Les Paul, after the exclusive worldwide agreement signed with Tronical for its PowerTune system. The guitar has been called Gibson Robot and is a very limited edition model, there will be only 10 guitar available per store.

The Gibson Robot Guitar includes the PowerTune system, that modifies one of the tone controls, now called MCK (master control knob), to change the tune of your guitar with the push/pull function and automatically tunes the guitar, you don’t have to worry about it, just play. This model includes 6 different tunings standard, open D (DADF#AD), open G (DGDGBD), DADGAD, drop D and double drop D (DADGBD).

Another feature of this system is the intonation function that guides you on how adjust the strings’ saddle bridge to get the perfect intonation with only 3 steps (pull the MCK knob and go to I function and press the control button during 3 seconds, pluck the string and then again at the 12th fret, and the guitar will show you how get the perfect intonation).

The Gibson Robot Guitar is of course a Les Paul model that will feature a unique and never-used-again dramatic blue silverburst finish, mahogany body and maple cap, ’50s neck profile, ebony fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, 24.75″ scale length, TuneControl bridge, 490R and 498T humbucker pickups certificate of authenticity, a lithium rechargable battery power adapter, a limited edition case with silver tolex and plush silver interior and serial number (just like RG0001).

The guitar will be available on December 7 but the price has not been announced so if you want to spend some money, stay tuned.

    So how exactly does the Robot Guitar differ from the PowerTune Les Paul?

    I don’t know, but this is a limited edition so I suppose the only change is the finish, just like the only difference between a standard model and some guitar of the week models is the finish.
