Beavis Audio Research/$uperpuma Trotsky Drive Pedal

Beavis Audio Research/$uperpuma Trotsky Drive PedalWith that kind of revolutionary name it was impossible not coming back, Beavis Audio Research and $uperpuma have announced that the Trosky Drive Pedal is available again. The return has been possible because of some NOS Russian transistors that were acquired by Dano of Beavis Audio Research which helped to create the design, based on the distortion module of ‘70 Electra guitars.

The Trotsky Drive Pedal is a boost, overdrive and even fuzzy stompbox that features KT312 Russian transistors, NOS Germanium diodes, bright switch that adds a high-end tone (good for humbuckers), gain and volume controls.

This pedals are being built and customized by Nate of $uperpuma, so if you want your own pedal you should contact him, but if you feel a little bit DIY-ish you can at the Trotsky build guide [PDF] published by Beavis Audio Research. The price of the Trotsky Drive Pedal has not been announced.

I have one of these and its just about the greatest simple overdrive I’ve tried. I still use my tube screamer and boost pedals but when I need just a little dirt or if I want some good sustain on a lead, this is my goto pedal.
