The 48th week model of the Guitar of the Week was the first of today’s leaked models and probably the most interesting one because it’s a reissue of a RD model that were available only for 5 years and which active pickups were designed by Bob Moog. This Gibson RD Standard Reissue doesn’t feature active pickups nor the 25.5″ scale length that were on the 70’s models.
The Gibson RD Standard Reissue features mahogany body and neck, 50’s neck profile, ebony fingerboard, 22 frets, 24.75″ scale length, Nashville bridge with stopbar tailpiece, 2 Dirty Fingers humbucker pickups, 3-way pickup switch and 2 volume and 1 tone controls.
At least this guitar does conserve the bright sound from the original model, this plus the silverburst finish makes it a very interesting guitar. The price and availability of the Gibson RD Standard Reissue have to be announced yet and the production run will be limited to 400 units.
