If you are using a Mac computer, specially if you use a MacBook, to do home-recording tasks you should take a look at the new Apogee device, a portable firewire interface with a design very similar to other Apple products. The Apogee Duet has a single big multi-function knob, like the Apple mouse with only one button, that can control all the parameters of the device.
The Apogee Duet Firewire Interface features 2 channels, 24-bit audio processing and 96kHz sampling rate, LED level indicators, input and output selection LED, 2 balanced XLR and 2 hi-impedance instrument inputs and powered speakers outputs in the same cable (the breakthrough cable), headphone output, 48V phantom power for mic inputs and firewire port.
This device has been specially designed to work with Apple Logic Pro, Soundtrack Pro or GarageBand software but can work with almost any core-audio software using the included Apogee Maestro software. The Apogee Duet Firewire Interface will be available during this month and its MSRP is $495.
