August Behringer Pedal Releases

August Behringer Pedal Releases - Behringer DC9 Dynamics Compressor & VT999 Vintage Tube Monster Distortion

Some new products from Behringer have been unveiled last month, to day we’ll bring you the pedal releases. The German company has released two new pedals, DC9 Dynamics Compressor and VT999 Vintage Tube Monster Distortion, that are very different but lets take a look at them.

The Behringer DC9 Dynamics Compressor is a effect pedal that will smooth your guitar sound eliminating sound peaks and giving a percussive tone to your guitar. It also provides ultra-stable dynamics sustain and features a true hard-wire bypass and on/off LED that also works as a battery checker. The price of this pedal is $45.

The other release is the Behringer VT999 Vintage Tube Monster Distortion, a pedal that can give you from blues to heavy metal overdrive that features a 12AX7 tube, noise gate adjustable threshold, true hard-wire bypass, 3-band EQ, master (for tone shaping) and gain controls and on/off (also works as battery checker) and noise gate switches. The pedal has a very 80’s vintage design and could sound very good (I wish they had sound clips). The price of the VT999 Vintage Tube Monster Distortion is $100.

Well, the DC9 is obviously a copy of the MXR Dyna Comp, but the VT999? The enclosure has Electro-Harmonix written all over it, but I don’t think EHX has any distortion (tube distortion, no less) pedals in that format. Any ideas?

Maybe is a copy of the Ibanez Tube King TK999HT (the product number is similar) with a Electro-Harmonix case design.

But if the pedal sounds good I don’t mind it looks like a EHX’s one.

I don’t mind either. It’s just that I was trying to figure out what pedal this one was “inspired” by. Behringer is known for copying stuff to details, which made it all the more odd that the VT999 didn’t seem to have an obvious counterpart. Ibanez Tube King in an EHX-style enclosure seems like a good guess.
