Alesis released at Summer NAMM a very similar device to the Control Pad released in the last year show, the Alesis Performance Pad. This drum pad includes a built-in classic drum machine and could be a very helpful tool to record your own drum tracks in your home studio or to mount it as an addition of your drum kit and play different sounds.
The Alesis Performance Pad features 8 velocity-sensitive pads, 50 factory presets and 50 user banks, 233 different sounds that can be assignable to any pad, built-in rhythm patterns, Dynamic Articulation technology that adds reverb and ambience to give more realistic results, two inputs for external pedals (hi-hat and kick), stereo aux input (to play along your MP3 files or CD tracks) and MIDI and headphones outputs.
The external pedals are not included in the package, but I’m sure this device will be in a lot of home studios. The Alesis Performance Pad will be available in late 2007 and its price will be $299.
