MXL Audio is releasing a new tool that could interest to a lot of people, specially those who use a computer-based studio at home where sometimes is difficult to record some tracks. The MXL Mic Mate is a preamp and a converter, you connect your mic in the XLR input in one side and the other side is a USB connector that can be plugged into a PC or a Mac.
The MXL Mic Mate features balanced low noise input, low distortion preamp, 3-position analog gain switch, 16-bit Delta Sigma analog-to-digital converter, 44.1 and 48.1 KHz sampling rate. You can connect your mic even if it’s a phantom powered mic because this device converts the USB power signal (5V) into the 48V required by phantom powered mics.
