Although last weekend’s accidental release, Gibson is still releasing their Guitar of the Week series models and now its turn for 24th week’s model. The Gibson Firebird V is a remake of the first original Firebird model, released in 1963, including the reversed body but with set-neck design instead of the classic model’s neck-through design.
The Gibson Firebird V features mahogany body and neck, rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, 24.75″ scale length, Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, 490R and 498T Alnico magnet humbucker pickups, 3-way pickup switch and two volume and two tone controls. The guitar is only available in natural satin with maple wings finish.
The guitar comes with black reptile hardshell case and its production run is limited to 400 units. The price and availability of the Gibson Firebird V has to be announced yet.
UPDATE (2007.07.10): Gibson has changed the name of this Guitar of the Week model, now is the Gibson Firebird V instead of the Firebird Studio.
