One of the most important features of the Edirol PCR Series, and of course of this Edirol PCR-500 MIDI Controller, is that they doesn’t have more controls, buttons or knobs than other MIDI controllers, their controls are more intuitive mainly because of the Dynamic Mapping technology that allows the keyboards to map physical controls in an intelligent way (the most important parameters are assigned to the controls and you can store up to fifteen different configurations).
The Edirol PCR-500 MIDI Controller features 49 velocity sensitive keys with aftertouch, 50 assignable controls (including rotary knobs, a crossfader, sliders, a pitch wheel and buttons), 18 velocity pads, MIDI merge switch, USB port, hold and expression pedal inputs and MIDI input and output. All the connections of this keyboard are on the side panel of the device to save room for other devices.
The keyboard is USB-powered (although it can use an AC adapter, a switch allows you to select what input the power comes) and comes with Cakewalk Production Plus Pack that includes SONAR LE, Project 5 LE and Dimension LE. The price of the Edirol PCR-500 MIDI Controller is $299.
