Week 16 of Guitar of the Week series brings us the Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Silverburst, a very nice model that looks very similar the the Epiphone Les Paul Custom Silverburst Limited Edition that got very good reviews, but without the pickguard.
The Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Silverburst features mahogany body with carved maple top, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, 24.75″ scale length, Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, ‘57 Classic (neck) and ‘57 Classic Plus (bridge) humbucker pickups, 3-way pickup switch, 2 volume and 2 tone controls.
The guitar comes in a hardshell case and its production run will be limited to 400 units. The price of the Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom Silverburst is $2,600, so I think I still prefer the Epiphone one.

that is so confusing and weird… many, many people are fans of the les paul _custom_ silverburst favored by the guy from Tool and others, and that’s why the epiphone version caused such a commotion. this model isn’t quite up to the LP custom appointments, as it is presumably a les paul classic in the finish that the customs were once finished in, yet called custom in homage to that- or simply because it’s a guitar of the week. see what i mean? confusing.
why they didn’t just reissue the silverburst les paul custom is totally beyond me.
oh, you know what, I just checked musicians friend and they do have a straight up LP Custom silverburst reissue…. for 3400. makes the other one look like a bargain.
I just got this guitar for Christmas and I completely love it. It’s the exact one that is in the picture with the Humbucker pickups but i have a 60’s neck. It’s the best guitar that I have every played and I strongly suggest it.
