BackLine Electronics has introduced a new amp, it’s a very versatile class-A all-tube amp head with a tube classic design. The BackLine Zentone 7 amp can store presets, allow changing the preamp and the octal output (this one without re-biasing) tube and switch from octal to EL84 output tube. This could be a very useful amp for live shows because it can be controlled remotely by technicians.
The Backline Zentone 7 amp features 70 W output power, two 12AX7 preamp tubes, 3 different preamp gain settings, EL84 or octal output tubes (switchable pushing a button), pentode or triode output tube modes, gain, bass, mid, treble and master volume controls, 64 preset locations for storing your preferred settings, unbalanced and XLR direct outputs with level control, direct output from the input to the speaker (with speaker emulation frequency curve and level control).
The amp comes with a (Windows only) software that allows you to control the amp by MIDI. The price of the BackLine Zentone 7 amp is $995 and it’s now available.
UPDATE (12.10.2007): BackLine Engineering has released a new version of this amp which main changes are a new power supply that gives to the amp more output power and a new low power mode that allows you to cut the output power to get a more tube overdrived tone.
