The effects company Hartman Electronics has released a new fuzz pedal but this time they haven’t used germanium transistors, the Hartman BC108 Silicon Fuzz pedal features silicon transistors and is based in the classic Silicon Fuzz Face pedal. This effect pedal gives a more raw sound than the other Hartman effects (that use germanium transistors) but it also is 100% hand-wired.
The Hartman BC108 Silicon Fuzz pedal features 2 genuine metal-can BC108 NPN silicon transistors, true bypass, ‘anti-pop’ pull-down resistor, volume, bias (that adjust the silicon transistors influence, lower bias more raw sound, higher bias smoother sound) and fuzz controls, on/off LED and footswitch, shielded against RF interferences and is powered by 9V battery or DC input.
The pedal comes with a carbon/zinc 9V battery and, although Hartman advises that the sound is very different from their other fuzz pedals this one has a very good sound. The price of the Hartman BC108 Silicon Fuzz pedal is $149.99.
