There have been some noise lately from a brand new guitar that is called to be a revolution, the guitar is the Ovation VXT. We didn’t want to talk about it until we get some of its specs and info. The Ovation VXT is a electric/acoustic hybrid guitar featuring much versatility and tonal range, from warm acoustic to power electric sound or mixing both sounds.
The Ovation VXT features 1-piece chambered Honduras mahogany body and neck, AAA solid spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, 25.25″ scale length, Fishman Power bridge, 2 Seymour Duncan ‘59 humbucker pickups, 3-way pickup switch, VIP Microphone Imaging acoustic preamp, volume, tone and pan (this knob controls the sound, from acoustic to electric) controls and mono and stereo outputs.
The samples from the VXT’s MySpace sound really good in acoustic and overdrived powerful tones, but I’d like to see the price because Ovation guitars have never been affordable. But even with a high price the Ovation VXT is a wonderful guitar with pretty much possibilities, I definitely want to play one of this.

I just went down to Guitar Center and tried one out, awesome! ˆ’m totally gonna buy one, just have to wait for pay-day.
Thanks for the info, the guitar really looks like a good one. I’d like to check it too.
I tried one at Guitar Center because I was looking for a versatile gig guitar that could do more than just electric. I wound up buying a VG Strat because the fit and finish was better than the VXT and it did a ton more stuff like alternate tunings and single coils as well as humbuckers.
The VXT looked shoddy and played like a truck. I think it’s OK, but waaaaaay overpriced for what it is. It would be a contender at $650, but at $1200 it’s too close to the VG which blows it away.
Thanks for the review. I also think that the price is a very bit high, but I suppose Ovation has introduced it as a revolutionary guitar so the price should be high.
