Alesis has released at MusikMesse a mobile multi-output mixer, the iMultiMix 8 USB, that can record directly to the iPod, to a computer (via USB) or to both at the same time. So if you have a computer-based home studio or you feel useful to record to the iPod (2nd to 5th generation), this is your mixer.
The Alesis iMultiMix 8 USB Mixer is a 8–channel mixer that features 3 band EQ per channel, 2 guitar, mic or line inputs, 4 high-gain mic/line preamps, 100 built-in effects (like reverb, chorus, flange, delay, …), CD-quality stereo recording (at 44.1 or 48kHz ), control wheel for transport controls (or control the iPod while it’s docked) and built-in limiter (limits distortioned sounds).
The Alesis iMultiMix 8 USB Mixer is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows XP and comes with Cubase LE. It will be available in the 3rd quarter of 2007 and its price will be $499. A good option for home studios with an affordable price.
