Drum Workshop, Inc. has teamed up with Randall May International for an exclusive offering, The Acoustic EQ Snare Drum. This technology is new and a bit tricky, so bare with me. The Acoustic EQ Snare Drum is a 6″ x 14″ addition to the Collector’s Series line of drums from DW that utilizes a venting system which allows the drummer to control the amount of air that leaves the drum. A system of precision gates cut into the all maple shell can be independently adjusted resulting in drastic tone changes when close-miked. DW also claims that the Acoustic EQ Snare Drum can be adjusted mid-song via the two smooth operating, low-profile machined aluminum handles.
Other features of the DW Acoustic EQ Snare Drum include DW’s 10-ply all-maple shell with 6-ply reinforcement hoops, Exotic Curly Maple exterior with Natural Satin Oil finish, Delta ball-bearing throw-off, DW heads by Remo USA and True-Tone® snare wires.
No word on pricing or availability yet. However, with high interest coming from pros like Jim Keltner, Greg Upchurch and Nisan Stewart, you can expect this one to put a dent in your bank account.
