SPL and Tonehunter teamed up to build an “analog speaker & miking simulator”. This device, the SPL Transducer, will allow users to record or play live without needing to have an amp and a mic in front of it. The Transducer produces a signal that emulates the process of going through a speaker and a mic and you don’t need to worry about room acoustics or phasing problems.
The Transducer can be used with amps up to 100 W and is a 2U 19” rack unit. It features speaker action (like speaker cone level), miking level (emulates a mic recording from the speaker) and output gain controls, speaker cabinet (open or closed), speaker voicing (sparky or mellow), mic selection (condenser or dynamic) and mic distance (close or ambient) switches, speaker and speaker thru inputs, mic level and 2 line outputs.
SPL and Tonehunter will introduce the Transducer at Musikmeese ‘07 and its price will be approximately $1,500.
