Winter NAMM ‘07 amp announcements

This Winter NAMM show is over but its news still need to be commented. This time we will talk about amps introduced at this year’s show: Marshall JVM Series, Behringer Bugera, Vox Heritage Collection, Crate FlexWave Series, Bad Cat Panther and Lynx.

Marshall JVM SeriesThe Marshall JVM Series features 2 models, JVM410H Head and JVM410C Combo. Both of them feature 100W, five ECC83 and two EL34 valves, 4 channels (2 clean and 2 overdrived) with 3 modes per channel (a total of 12 different amps), digital reverb, volume, bass, middle, treble and gain controls (per channel) and dual master volumes, resonance, presence and reverb controls. Both of them feature an intelligent footswitch that can save your settings so you can restore it whenever you want. The combo version features 2 Celestion 12” speakers (one Vintage and one Heritage models). The prices are $2,500 for the Marshall JVM410H Head and $3,000 for the Marshall JVM410C Combo.

Bugera AmpsBehringer released a full line of amps called Bugera amps with, by now, 4 amp models in head and combo versions. The models are Bugera 333, 333XL, 6260 and 6262. All models feature 120W, 2 or 3 channels, four EL34 or 6L6 valves, four, five or six 12AX7 valves in the preamp, independent 3–band EQ per channel, reverb (with dedicated control), presence control and impedance switch (between 4, 8 and 16 ohms). Prices go from $600 to $800.

Vox Heritage CollectionVox introduced a new collection of amps to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the collection is called Heritage Collection and features 2 models, AC15H1TV and AC15H1TVL (both of the pay tribute to AC15, the first VOX amp ever made). Both models feature 15W, 2 channels (EF86 and Top Boost), Celestion AlNiCo “Blue” 12” speaker, one EF86, three ECC83/12AX7, two EL84 and one EZ81 valves and chicken head style knobs. The prices for the amps are $2,000 for the Vox AC15H1TVL (a limited edition with only 200 units) and $1,699 for the Vox AC15H1TV.

Crate FlexWaveCrate introduced the patented FlexWave Evolution 5 preamp technology featured in the FlexWave Series amps. The serie features 4 combo amps (FW15, FW15R, FW65–112 and FW120–212), 1 head (FW120H) amp and 2 cabinets (G412A and G412B). All amp models feature 3–band EQ, 2 or 3 channels, DSP effects (only models with 65W or more) and 8” or 12” speakers (combo models, FW120–212 feature two 12” speakers). The cabinets feature four 12” speakers. Prices go from $99.99 to $499.99 for the amps and $449.99 for the cabinets.

Bad-cat-lynx-pantherBad Cat introduced 2 models at NAMM, The Panther and The Lynx. Bad Cat The Panther is a combo (with one or two 12” speakers) or head amp that features 35W, four 6V6 class and one 5AR4 tubes and 2 channels (one with a 12AX7 tube, bass, treble, mid and volume controls and the 5–way mod boost switch, and the other with a EF86 tube, volume control and 5–way rotary tone switch). Bad Cat The Lynx is a head amp that features two EL34, four 12AX7 and one 5AR4 rectifier tubes and 2 channels (one with a 5–way rotary tone switch and the other with a 5–way rotary mid sweep).
