We talked about the Edirol R-09 recorder some time ago, but now Roland announces that the R-09 will be compatible with the new SDHC cards if you update its firmware to the 1.10 version. SDHC means secure digital high capacity and eliminates the 2 GB limit for SD cards and increases the data transfer speed.
By now the SDHC cards’ maximum capacity is 4 GB, that is enough for a portable recorder. The big problem for a new component is always the price, the Panasonic RP-SDR04-GJ1K 4 GB card that has been tested successfully on the R-09 costs about $170.
Edirol R-09 owners should wait to buy one of this cards until the price becomes a little bit lower.
