Another mic post today, Telefunken introduced at this year’s AES in San Francisco the new ribbon model mic, the Telefunken RM-5C. Ribbon mics have always been very appreciated by singers and musicians for its softer sound and its ability of capturing high-frequency sounds.
The Telefunken RM-5C’s design is inspired in classic RCA BK5 but this modern ribbon mic features highly directional cardioid pickup pattern and gets appreciably improved output level and wider frequency response using cutting edge magnetic materials. The mic can be used for vocals, acoustic guitar, drums and almost any sound because it gets a very realistic sound.
The Telefunken RM-5C was designed by ribbon microphone specialists Jerry Silvia and David Browning and rumours say that its price will be near $1000.
