Korg takes profit of the SACD 1–bit recording technology and releases 2 new models of professional mobile recorders, the MR-1 and MR-1000. We’ll take a look to the Korg MR-1. The 1–bit recording technology is very interesting because provides a simple format with high audio quality and no degradation in converting to other formats. Korg also offers AudioGate software (for PC and Mac) that converts 1–bit recordings to WAV, AIFF at different bit rates (and viceversa too).
The MR-1 is a portable device records in 1-bit/2.8 MHz format, features 20 GB internal hard drive, dual balanced mini plug inputs, stereo mini plug output, electret condenser mic, USB port to transfer files from/to the computer and is powered by a rechargeable lithium polymer battery (it can be powered by its 6V DC input).
The MR-1 can be used for location recording, live music performances and song-writing sessions. The price and availability has to be announced yet.
