Nanoguitar, the smallest guitar in the world?

nanogtr.jpg

This is one of those curious things that is useless at all, one of the guitars in Top 20 strange guitars, the nanoguitar, was created by one science investigation team from Cornell University and it looks like the smallest, probably, guitar in the world. The guitar was only built to demonstrate the possibilities of the technology they were investigating.

The nanoguitar was built from crystalline silicon and it’s no more than 10 microns long, but has 6 strings (each string has 50 nanometers long) and if you pluck any of the strings (of course with a special microscopic tool) they will resonate but at inaudible frequencies.

Of course this has no utility (in music world) and will not bring innovations to the guitar structure, but it’s really weird and funny.
