M-Audio realeased very interesting stuff, a wireless MIDI keyboard. The M-Audio MidAir 25 is the 25–key version of the wireless MIDI keyboard. Based on the functionality of Oxygen8 the MidAir 25 features velocity-sensitive keys, eight MIDI assignable knobs, mod and pitch bend wheels, assignable sustain button, three-digit LED, etc.
But the most important thing here is the wireless connection between the keyboard and the home base station. The home base connects to a computer with the USB 1.1 port (maybe a 2.0 interface would be better) and MIDI in/out. But it also can connect directly to a standard MIDI instrument to control it with the MidAir.
Powered by 9V batteries or power adapter (if you want to go real wireless I suppose you must use the AA batteries that last 20 hours). There is a 37–key version and there will be a standalone version that will convert all your MIDI hardware into wireless.
The price for MidAir 25 is $249.95, for MidAir 37 is $299.95 and we will know the price for standalone version in August.
